Scoops of Kindness: 2025 Ice Cream Social Recap Supporting Harvest House
There’s something incredibly sweet about a community coming together—and not just for ice cream. On Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, The Salt + Light Co. hosted its annual Ice Cream Social in partnership with Häagen-Dazs, creating an afternoon filled with generosity, connection, and compassion. This year’s event once again supported Harvest House Guam, a local nonprofit that serves foster children and families across the island.
A Summer Tradition with Purpose
Held at Häagen-Dazs locations in GPO and Micronesia Mall, the event was timed perfectly with the back-to-school shopping season. Guests were invited to drop off backpacks and school supplies to benefit Harvest House’s Back 2 School Drive, receiving a free scoop of Häagen-Dazs ice cream as a thank-you. With the friendly faces of our team and volunteers, both locations became cheerful stations of giving.
More than just a donation drop-off, this event served as a beautiful reminder of how small acts of kindness can ripple through a community. From shoppers strolling by to foster families and longtime supporters, everyone played a part in making this gathering a meaningful success.
This Year’s Impact
Thanks to the generosity of our island community, over 25 backpacks were collected—many of them brand new, along with a wide range of school supplies. These essential items will directly support children in Guam’s foster system as they head into a new school year.
We were especially honored to have volunteers from Harvest House assist at both locations, including Amanda Richards, a foster parent featured in last year’s Ice Cream Social, as well as Ramona McManus, President and Director of Safe Haven, who helped lead efforts at GPO.
With a variety of nearby stores within walking distance, many guests found it easy and convenient to shop and donate—transforming a simple errand into an act of generosity.
A Grateful Heart
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the heartfelt support of our partners and the people who showed up with open hands and full hearts. We are especially thankful to Häagen-Dazs for continuing to partner with us year after year to make this initiative possible—and delicious!
To everyone who donated, volunteered, or helped spread the word: thank you. Your contributions will brighten the school year for a foster child and let them know they’re seen, supported, and celebrated.
